Eventful

Good morning Group 2, firstly thank you for your welcoming responses Stanley & Suliha. Suliha, exam tips if given too freely will defeat the purpose of testing the 'know how'. You are doing fine, just keep up the effort.

Secondly, I've heard about Miss Gwee's pass on. Although I have had only limited contacts with her, she striked me as a considerate & responsible person whom alway gave me advance notice if she needed a change in teaching schedule. It may be a comfort for those who loved her to know that it would be a great relieve for Miss Gwee physically at her last moment.

Thirdly, the past few months were very eventful in the office, probably for the students as well as some administrative changes would have an impact on you. While it is taking a toll on most of us, it was amazing how team work and perseverance can narrowed the inadequacy. I can't help but to say my favourite verse again: "Tough time don't last, tough people do".
Are you tough enough?

  1. i went to visit a student yesterday in the hospital, was happy to see her recovering however i was frustrated that these days nursing care are really fall below standards....her trachy tube dressing was black and the ribbon gauze dressing around the neck is black...initially i decide to let it passed but the longer i stayed at her bed, cannot help but to get the nurses to give me gauze and ribbon gauze and normal saline, to decide to clean it ourselves. Her hair was in the mess...it was badly entangle that cannot be comb, the donor graft side was wrapped up but look like it was not been change for a few days........my buddy also cannot stand, she decided to remove the dressing and nurse it exposed. However the ward does not seem too busy to me, with student nurses around walking up and down, the ward nurses are not busy too. where is quality nursing care, where is quality of life for patients.....
where are the nurses' passion .....are they only performing their routine care. Almost on impulse, i want to be back working in the ward again, but can i tolerate the nursing care out there.
i asked myself again why do i choose teaching in the beginning...i hope to teach students about passion in nursing and quality nursing care.
As li Ping mentioned in her earlier post, these couple of months was crazy........but the team work was so amazing, everyone are helping each other, though that phase test ended at 8 pm. At least one batch is out now for clinical posting and two cohort are in campus........i am looking forward for the tough time to be passed.........but the tough people remained.
My student is getting better each day despite being in hospital for 4 months, she is getting more cheerful....i was asking myself if i am her, have i given up long time ago......she is so braved, she is doing well.........from the visit, i felt so ashamed , i told myself may be i should give up and moved on, but well , i should persevere on, i want to continue this race, i want to see my prize at the end. Let's run the race together.

  2. Ms Emily, you are great responsible person for all the intake.During this semester I can observe alot changes within the students. Now they seem to be mature and daring with their fellow friends except for group 2 students. I'm fortunate to be in this group. I hope my strength can pull through. Welcome to the blog Ms Emily.
